Fisher Secures Sponsor, Will Return To IndyCar Series
(INDIANAPOLIS) - Sarah Fisher will return for two races on the IndyCar Series this season after lining up new sponsorship.
Fisher, once rated as the most popular driver in the IRL, has gained the sponsorship of Dollar General Stores that will enable her team to race at Kentucky in August and Chicago in September.
Fisher dealt with a frustrating month of May after primary sponsors backed out on her recently formed team, leaving them unable to fund a team beyond the Indianapolis 500. Fisher was caught up in an accident involving Tony Kanaan in that race.
Fisher was the first woman to start from the pole in a major U.S. open wheel race at Kentucky in 2002.
