Lewis Situation To Be Re-Evaluated In June, Says Lynch
(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - Indiana University football coach Bill Lynch says while quarterback Kellen Lewis is making progress toward being reinstated to the football team, there are no guarantees that he will return.
Lynch suspended Lewis indefinitely for violating team rules. Lynch tells The Indianapolis Star that Lewis is doing the things they have asked him to do and that he anticipates re-evaluating the situation sometime in late June, although he says he does not have a specific timetable.
As a sophomore last season, Lewis threw for more than 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns while running for 736 yards and scoring nine more TDs on the ground.
The Hoosiers reached the Insight Bowl last season, their first postseason bowl game in 14 years.
Lewis missed all of spring practice. Backup Ben Chappell took the majority of snaps during the spring with Mitchell Evans serving as Chappell's backup. Evans was recruited as a quarterback but played defensive back last season.
