(UNDATED) - Former Indiana University Assistant Basketball Coach Jeff Meyer is the latest to respond to the NCAA investigation regarding possible rules violations.

Meyer acknowledges making "compliance-related mistakes" at IU but that his transgressions do not constitute a major violation.

Meyer is one of three Indiana coaches named in the NCAA investigation of five potential major rules violations. The university's response to the charges said that Meyer made a limited number of impermissible phone calls, some of which could be interpreted as being within NCAA rules.

Meyer is also accused of giving a t-shirt and a backpack to the coach of recruit Derek Elston during a summer camp. Meyer says he has known the coach, Travis Daugherty, since he was an infant and that the gifts were a gesture of affection and not an attempt to induce a recruit.

The investigation cost former Indiana head coach Kelvin Sampson his job.

IU officials and Sampson are scheduled to appear before the NCAA committee on infractions in mid June with possible sanctions being handed out later this summer.
