Crew Chief Leaves Hospital Following Pit Stall Accident

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) The crew member hit by Danica Patrick’s car in the pit lane of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last Friday is out of the hospital.

Charles Buckman walked in front of Patrick's car as she was pulling into her pit stall. Buckman was clipped by the front wing of the car. The force of the impact launched him into the air and he hit his head on the rear tire of Patrick's car before landing face first on the pavement.

Buckman, who is the crew chief on the Dale Coyne Racing Dallara of rookie Mario Moraes, suffered a skull fracture and other head injuries in the accident.
