Reports: Pacer's Walsh Heading To New York
(NEW YORK, NY) - Indiana Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh will be introduced as the new president of the New York Knicks at a news conference this afternoon according to several published reports.
Walsh announced last week that he was leaving the Pacers when his contract expires at the end of this season. He will replace former Pacers coach Isiah Thomas as president of the Knicks. Thomas also serves as the Knicks' head coach. His future in that position is uncertain.
Thomas became team president in 2003 and has spent the last two seasons as head coach. They are currently 20-and-54 this season giving him a two-year mark of 53-and-103 in New York.
Thomas has been the center of a firestorm in New York after he and the team lost an $11-million-dollar sexual harassment suit to former team executive Anuncha Browne-Sanders.
