Pacers Play Worst, Now Play First
(BOSTON, MA) - The Indiana Pacers go from worst to first as they take on the Boston Celtics tonight in Boston.
The Pacers are coming off a 105-85 win over the Miami Heat Monday night. Miami has the worst record in the NBA - Boston has the best.
The Celtics will be going for their 60th win of the season. They were 106-92 winners last night in Chicago to improve to 59-and-15.
Indiana enters play tonight in sole possession of ninth place in the east following New Jersey's loss at home to Philadelphia last night. The Nets fell a half-game behind Indiana. The Pacers trail Atlanta by three games in the race for the eighth and final playoff berth in the east.
Should the Pacers get around the hawks, tonight's game is a possible preview of Indiana's first-round playoff series.
Time is running out as Indiana has just eight games remaining on the regular-season schedule including tonight's. They hope to get a boost from the return of six-time all-star Jermaine O'Neal to the lineup.
O'Neal missed 33 games with a bone bruise and swelling in his left knee. He returned on Monday, playing 18 minutes and scoring nine points against the Heat.
