(WASHINGTON, DC) - The Indiana Pacers were officially eliminated from playoff contention Monday night, losing to the Washington Wizards 117-110.

Washington never trailed, leading by as many as 22 points in the third quarter and fighting off a late charge by the Pacers in the fourth quarter.

Marquis Daniels hit a three-pointer with 18 seconds remaining to pull the blue-and-gold to within three, but Washington hit four free throws down the stretch to pull out the win.

Roger mason led the Wizards with 31 points off the bench with rookie Nick Young adding 14 as Washington won for the fifth time in six games.

The Wizards were without starters Gilbert Arenas and Caron Butler and lost Deshawn Stevenson early in the third quarter with a sore back.

The Pacers were also shorthanded as Jeff Foster sat out with a knee injury. Danny Granger led Indiana with a game-high 35 points with Mike Dunleavy adding 26.

With the Pacer loss, Atlanta clinches the eighth and final playoff berth in the East. The Hawks are in the postseason for the first time since 1999 while Indiana will watch the playoffs for the second-straight year.

The Pacers wrap up their season Wednesday night at home against the New York Knicks.
