IndyCar Series At Twin Ring Motegi
(MOTEGI, JAPAN) - Rain washed out last night’s qualifying for the Indy Japan 300 in Motegi, Japan.
Points leader Helio Castroneves was awarded the pole based on entrant points. It is the third-straight year that Castroneves will start from the pole position at Twin Ring Motegi. It is the second time he was awarded the Japan pole due to weather.
Scott Dixon, who won the season opener at Homestead, will start alongside Castroneves in the front row. A pair of Andretti-Green cars make up row two with Tony Kanaan starting third and Marco Andretti fourth. Dan Wheldon and Danica Patrick make up row three.
Eighteen cars, all associated with the IndyCar Series last season, will take the green flag at midnight eastern time in Japan. Those teams that were with the Champ Car World Series in previous seasons race through the streets of Long Beach, California this weekend in the final Champ Car race.
The points awarded at Long Beach will count toward the IndyCar Series championship.
