Pacers Deal With 5 Game Losing Streak
(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Pacers try to snap a two-game skid tonight when they host the New York Knicks.
The Pacers dropped back-to-back road games over the weekend, falling at Dallas on Friday and Orlando on Saturday to extend their road losing streak to five games.
The blue-and-gold are 25-and-41 and enter play tonight in eleventh place, three games behind New Jersey and Atlanta for the eighth and final playoff berth in the East.
The Knicks did not do Indiana any favors last night, losing to the Hawks 109-98 at Madison Square Garden. Both the Nets and the Hawks have won their last two games, which has allowed them to pull away from the other contenders for the final Eastern Conference playoff berth.
The Chicago Bulls are currently tenth, a game and-a-half behind the Nets and Hawks and a game-and-a-half ahead of Indiana.
The two teams pursuing the Pacers have dropped off with Charlotte losing three straight and Milwaukee dropping five in a row. The Bobcats are a game behind Indiana with Milwaukee two games behind.
New York is 19-and-47 and has lost eight of its last nine games. The Knicks own the second-worst record in the East, ahead of only the woeful Miami Heat.
If the Pacers are to make a run, the three-game Homestand that begins tonight may be their best opportunity to gain ground. After tonight's game with the Knicks, the Pacers host the Bobcats on Wednesday followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
