(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Big Ten’s coaches helped tip the scale toward Indianapolis to host the men’s and women’s championship games for the next five years.

Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delaney says the Indy beat out Chicago because most university sports program managers told him we're the city their fans and players would enjoy the most.

Mayor Greg Ballard says the Big 10 tournaments alone have a $3-billion dollar economic impact.

Indianapolis will host the first Big Ten "career expo" this year and will award a post-graduate scholarship to an athlete from each tournament in honor of former commissioner Wayne Duke.

This year's women's tournament also features several events to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Big 10 women's tournament begins Thursday and the men come to town next week.
