Dixon Claims Pole At Homestead-Miami

(UNDATED) - The Peak Motor Oil pole went to Scott Dixon Friday evening for Saturday night’s season opening GAINSCO Auto Insurance Indy 300 from Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The format for qualifying was spiced up a bit, as the drivers' four-lap cumulative time determined the starting order.
Dixon, who ended the 2007 IndyCar season in second place, finished with a four lap cumulative time of 1 minute, 40.2341 seconds. Dixon will be joined in row one by Ed Carpenter.
Rounding out the second and third rows are A.J. Foyt IV, Danica Patrick, Ryan Briscoe, and Marco Andretti.
Saturday's race marks the season opener and the first glance at the new look series since the unification with Champ Car.
