(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - 6’8” Purdue freshman Robbie Hummel was named the Big Ten’s player of the week on Monday.

The freshman from Valparaiso averaged 19 points in wins over Penn State and at number-eight Wisconsin. Hummel hit 14-of-21 shots in those games, including five-of-nine three-pointers. Hummel is the Boilers' second-leading scorer this season, averaging 10.9-points per contest.

It is the second week in a row and the third time in the last four weeks a Boilermaker has been named conference player of the week. Fellow freshman E'Twaun Moore was the Big Ten player of the week last week, and sophomore Keaton Grant was honored January 21.
