Hard Road Continues For Pacers Squad
(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indiana Pacers saw their two-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the NBA’s best team last night.
The Boston Celtics were 104-97 winners at Conseco Fieldhouse over the blue and gold, ending Indiana's streak and extending theirs' to four.
The Pacers kept it close, holding a lead early in the fourth quarter. Playing without Jamaal Tinsley and Jermaine O'Neal, the Pacers balanced things with six players in double figures led by Danny Granger with 18 and Shawne Williams' 14 off the bench.
Boston, who played without Kevin Garnett, got 28 points out of Paul Pierce and 23 from Ray Allen.
The Pacers fall to 21-and-31 on the season, tenth in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The loss dropped the Pacers another game in the playoff picture. They are now two games behind eighth-place Atlanta and one game back of Philly for ninth. Boston is now 40-and-9.
After facing the NBA's best team, Indiana plays at Detroit, who has the league's second-best record, tonight. The Pistons are 38-and-13 after beating Atlanta last night.
