Pacers Claim Afternoon Victory Against 76ers
(PHILADELPHIA, PA) - Kareem Rush scored a season-high 25 points and Mike Dunleavy added 24 as the Indiana Pacers beat the Philadelphia 76ers 110-103 Monday afternoon.
Danny Granger added 18 points and Troy Murphy finished with 13 before leaving with a sore left knee.
Andre Iguodala led Philadelphia with 23 points with Andre Miller adding 21 as the 76ers suffered their eighth loss in their last ten games.
The Pacers improve to 19-and-23 after picking up just their second win in their last ten road games. The four-game road trip continues with a game in Chicago on Wednesday night followed by a stop in Milwaukee on Thursday.
Pacers Coach Jim O'Brien downplayed his homecoming following the Pacers' win over the 76ers on Monday. O'Brien, a Philadelphia native who played collegiately at St. Joseph's, coached his first game in Philadelphia since being fired by the Sixers following the 2004-05 season.
O'Brien said that "bitterness is for losers" and that he enjoyed the two years he took off after being fired and living off the nearly eight-million dollars owed to him by the Sixers.
He is getting another chance in coaching with Indiana and with Monday's win, the Pacers tied New Jersey for the eighth and final playoff berth in the eastern conference.
