Pacers Fall To Celtics At Home
(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Boston Celtics remained unbeaten with a 101-86 win over the Indiana Pacers.
Paul Pierce scored 31 points and grabbed eleven rebounds to lead the Celtics, who improved to 6-and-0 and remain the lone remaining undefeated team in the NBA. Kevin Garnett had 18 points and eleven boards while Ray Allen finished with 17 points.
For the Pacers, it was their fourth consecutive loss after opening the season with three straight wins.
Danny Granger led Indiana with 24 points with Jamaal Tinsley adding 18. Jermaine O'Neal had an off-shooting night, scoring just ten points on 4-for-13 shooting while grabbing a team-high nine rebounds.
The Celtics matched their best start in 20 years, when they won the first six games of the 1987-88 season. It has been 50 years since Boston had their best start, winning 14 in a row to start the 1957-58 campaign.
Tuesday's game was the first of a back-to-back for the Pacers. They are in Washington, D.C. tonight to face the Wizards.
Indiana beat the Wizards in the regular season opener 119-110 in overtime at Conseco Fieldhouse.
