Colts Regrouping After Second Consecutitive Loss
(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts return to practice today as they get ready for Sunday’s game with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Colts have lost two in a row to fall to 7-and-2 on the season. The Chiefs are also in the midst of the a two-game skid as they enter Sunday's game with a 4-and-5 record.
The Colts and Chiefs last met in January when the horseshoes recorded a 23-8 victory in the wild card round of the playoffs. The Colts defense limited Pro Bowl running back Larry Johnson to 32 yards on 13 carries in that game. Johnson has been ruled out of this weekend's contest with a foot injury.
A foot injury could cause Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney to miss the remainder of the season according to a broadcast report. ESPN, citing an unnamed source, says Freeney may have suffered a lisfranc injury, which involves the joints where the long bones at the base of the toes meet the midfoot. Lisfranc injuries may or may not require surgery but either way require months of rehabilitation.
Colts President Bill Polian said Monday that Freeney would likely miss at least four weeks.
The team claimed veteran defensive end Simeon Rice off waivers Monday in case Freeney would be out for a significant period of time.
