IU Recruit Appears In Court On Drug Trafficking Charges
(GEORGETOWN, KY) - Indiana University basketball recruit Jonathan “Bud” Mackey pled not guilty to felony drug charges Tuesday in Kentucky.
Mackey was charged in September with trafficking in a controlled substance and trafficking in a controlled substance within one-thousand yards of a school. The substance Mackey was allegedly trafficking was cocaine.
The 6-4 senior at Scott County High School in Georgetown, Kentucky has been free on bond since the day following his arrest and faces a preliminary hearing on November 6th.
Mackey has already committed to play at IU next season. University officials have declined to comment on Mackey's legal problems, citing NCAA rules against discussing recruits before they have signed letters of intent.
