(TERRE HAUTE, IN) - Indiana State fired head football coach Lou West on Monday.

ISU Director of Athletics Ron Prettyman made the announcement that West would be relieved of his duties immediately and would be reassigned within the university.

West went 1-and-25 in two-plus seasons as Indiana State head coach.

Long-time Sycamore football coach Dennis Raetz will take over the program on an interim basis. Raetz coached Indiana State from 1980 through 1997 and retired as Associate Director of Athletics in June.

Prettyman says the search for a permanent replacement will begin immediately.
