McFarland May Miss Colts Season
(TERRE HAUTE, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts may have to defend their Super Bowl title without their main run stuffer.
Defensive tackle Anthony "Booger" McFarland may have suffered a knee injury during practice on Friday, according to a published report.
The Indianapolis Star reports in Monday's editions that the nine-year veteran informed teammates that he suffered a serious knee injury during the practice. It is believed he tore a patellar tendon, which would likely end his season.
McFarland was one of several players sent to Indianapolis for MRI's.
The Colts return to the practice field this morning as training camp continues at Rose-Hulman Institute in Terre Haute. The Colts took Sunday off following the annual blue-white scrimmage on Saturday.
This morning's workout is for the entire squad while this afternoon's practice will be for special teams only. The full team will workout twice on Tuesday and once more on Wednesday before heading to Dallas for Thursday night's preseason opener with the Cowboys.
Today should mark the first appearance of third-round pick Quinn Pitcock in training camp. The defensive lineman from Ohio State missed the first week of camp with a leg injury.
Thursday's game will be the ninth preseason game between the Colts and the Cowboys, but the first since the Colts franchise moved to Indianapolis in 1984.
The colts hold a 5-3 advantage against Dallas in the preseason with the last meeting occurring in 1977.
