Indians Split Doubleheader
(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Indians and the Columbus Clippers split a doubleheader Monday night at Victory Field.
The Tribe won the opener 7-0 while the Clippers took game two 3-0.
John Van Benschoten pitched all seven innings in game one, allowing four hits to improve to 10-and-6. Brad Eldred hit a two-run homer for Indianapolis, his 15th of the season.
Four Columbus pitchers combined on the five-hit shutout in the nightcap. Larry Broadway hit his eleventh home run of the season and Brent Abernathy added an RBI single for the Clippers.
Game two of the five-game series is tonight at Victory Field.
