Indians Split Doubleheader

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Indians and the Richmond Braves split a doubleheader Wednesday night.

The Braves snapped a four-game losing streak with an 11-1 pounding in game one. Brent Lillibridge hit a two-run homer and drove in three with Wes Timmons adding a solo shot and three RBI to lead Richmond in the opener.

The Tribe won the nightcap 7-1 behind pitcher John Van Benschoten. Van Benschoten, who was recently sent down to the Indians by Pittsburgh, pitched six shutout innings allowing four hits to improve to 7-and-4.

The series continues tonight in Richmond.
