Fever Face Sun In Playoffs
(UNCASVILLE, CT) - The Indiana Fever open the WNBA playoffs tonight when they face the Connecticut Sun at the Mohegan Sun Casino.
The Sun won all four games against the fever during the regular season and Indiana has historically struggled with Connecticut. Since the franchise moved from Orlando following the 2002 season, the Fever are 5-and-14 versus Connecticut, not including the sun's two-game playoff sweep of Indiana in the 2005 playoffs.
Fever all-star forward Tamika Catchings remains the wild card in this series. Catchings returned to practice Tuesday after missing the final month of the regular season.
The Fever struggled following the loss of Catchings to a foot injury on July 20th, dropping five in a row. They won five of eight to close the season to earn the second seed in the eastern conference and take home-court advantage from the Sun.
Following tonight's contest, the series heads to Conseco Fieldhouse for game two on Saturday and game three, if necessary, on Monday.
