Former Pacers Coach Dies

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The first head coach of the Indiana Pacers, Larry Staverman, has died at the age of 70.
Staverman was hired by the pacers in 1967 before the start of their inaugural season.
Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh expressed his sadness at the occasion in a statement released late Thursday. He displayed the late coach as a man who believed in the franchise.
Staverman was replaced by Bob "Slick" Leonard who lead the Pacers to three ABA championships.
