IU Nets First Player Since Coaches Death
(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - The Indiana University football program has received its first oral commitment from a player since the death of head coach Terry Hoeppner last week.
Cortez Smith, a 190-pound running back from Detroit, chose the Hoosiers over Purdue, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Ball State.
The Hoosiers received a commitment from offensive lineman Justin Pagan of Chicago last week, giving IU five members in the 2008 recruiting class.
Oral commitments are not binding until the players sign letters of intent, which can occur as early as next February.
