Motorcycle Deal Premature, Says IMS President
(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Joie Chitwood says a report that motorcycles will race at the brickyard next year are premature.
Speed-TV reported that a deal has been completed between the speedway and Moto GP for a race on the IMS road course in the fall of 2008.
Chitwood says negotiations are still ongoing and that the two sides are trying to work out a date for the event.
Chitwood adds that the addition of the motorcycle race would not interfere with negotiations to extend the contract for the Formula One United States Grand Prix.
