Groundbreaking Goes On Despite Coaches Death

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - At the insistence of Terry Hoeppner’s wife Jane, IU held the groundbreaking ceremony for new athletic facilities on Tuesday afternoon.
Hoeppner was a key proponent of the 55-million dollar project, addressing the board of trustees about it days after his second brain surgery last September.
The new project will include enclosing the north end zone of Memorial Stadium and putting in a strength and conditioning center, new offices for the football program and a hall of champions.
The project also includes a basketball development center, baseball and softball stadiums and the academic resource center.
