Stokley Heading To Denver
(DENVER, CO) - The Denver Broncos have signed former Indianapolis Colts receiver Brandon Stokley to a one-year contract.
Stokley's contract with the Colts was terminated on March 1st, making him an unrestricted free agent.
He was hampered by ankle and knee injuries during 2006 with his season coming to an end on December 10th when he ruptured his right achilles tendon against Jacksonville.
The 30-year-old former Louisiana-Lafayette star spent four seasons with the Colts and was the team's third receiver who primarily lined up in the slot position.
His best season was in 2004, when he caught 68 passes for 1,077 yards and ten touchdowns. His final touchdown that season was Peyton Manning's record-breaking 49th of the year as he surpassed Dan Marino's 20-year-old record for most TD passes in a season.
Stokley began his career with the Baltimore Ravens. He spent four seasons in Baltimore and caught a touchdown pass in the Ravens' Super Bowl 35 win over the New York Giants following the 2000 season.
Stokley's new deal is reportedly worth in excess of one-million dollars.
