Pacers Lose Ten Straight On The Road
(EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ) - With their leading scorer and rebounder on the sidelines, the Indiana Pacers suffered their tenth-straight loss on the road, falling to the New Jersey Nets 118-94.
Rookie Josh Boone led the nets with 22 points and ten rebounds. Boone hit eleven of his 13 shots from the field in recording a career-high for points for a second-straight game.
Bostjan Nachbar added 20 points as the nets take a two-game lead over the Pacers in the Eastern Conference playoff race as well as clinching the season series to own the tie-breaker should the teams end the season with identical records.
Indiana was without Jermaine O'Neal, who sat out with a sprained ankle suffered in Tuesday night's loss to Cleveland. Rookie Shawne Williams led the Pacers with 19 points while Troy Murphy, who got the start in place of O'Neal, finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
The struggling Pacers have dropped three straight and 16 of their last 18. They will face the Magic Friday night in Orlando. The Magic lost in double overtime at Boston Wednesday night to fall into eighth place in the East.
Orlando holds a game and-a-half lead over ninth-place Indiana and New York for the final playoff berth.
