Indiana Players and Coaches Receive National Awards
(UNDATED) - Purdue senior forward Carl Landry was named to the All-Big Ten Coaches’ First Team as the conference announced its annual awards.
Ohio State's Thad Matta was named coach of the year while Buckeyes center Greg Oden, an Indianapolis native, was named freshman of the year. Oden's high school and Ohio State teammate Mike Conley junior was named to the media's first team.
Indiana's DJ White and Purdue's David Teague were named to the second team by both the coaches and the media. Wisconsin senior Alando Tucker was named the Big Ten's player of the year by both the coaches and the media.
Notre Dame's Mike Brey is the Big East Coach of the Year. Brey's Fighting Irish are ranked 16th nationally and enter the Big East tournament on Thursday with a 23-and-6 record and the number-four seed. John Macleod was the only other Notre Dame coach to win the award, being named coach of the year in 1997.
Georgetown's Jeff Green was named the conference's player of the year.
