I.U. Looking At Updating Training Facilities
(BLOOMINGTON) - As part of an overhaul of the Indiana University basketball program, school officials say they plan to build state-of-the-art basketball training facilities.
Coach Kelvin Sampson says he saw first-hand at the University of Oklahoma what new training space can mean to the success of a basketball program.
The Big 12 school built a $17-million training building during Sampson's tenure.
Hoosier Athletic Director Rick Greenspan says officials are in talks with architects and other logistics experts and could have a plan within the next few months.
Greenspan says the school-wide budget crunch is not a concern to him, as he hopes to issue bonds and solicit private donations to pay for the construction.
Greenspan says he hopes the university can also fund new construction at its football stadium to update football training capabilities.
