(MITCHELL) - The Mitchell Bluejacket baseball team record now stands at 1-1 after last night’s contest with the Washington Hatchets.

The Jackets used some late inning hitting to take a 4-2 lead into the 5th inning, but the Hatchets battled back to get the win 6-5. Overall the Jackets played well, but just couldn't get the 'W'.

The Jackets will use today to prepare for their first Patoka Lake Athletic Conference game of the season as they will take on the Paoli Rams tomorrow evening at Jacket Field. Varsity action is set to begin at 4:30pm. The JV game will be played at the conclusion of the 1st game.

Coming up on Saturday, April 15th, the Mitchell Bluejacket baseball team, along with Major League Baseball will be observing Jackie Robinson Day. The Jackets will honor the enduring impact of his legacy as the first player to break the color barrier in the Major Leagues. The Jackets will play a double header against North Harrison's Cougars Saturday. The brief ceremony will take place prior to the start of the first game at 11:00am.
