(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts played the waiting game in free agency and it paid off on Thursday as they landed former Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston with a 2-year deal worth $24 million.

The 30-year old Houston had nine sacks in 12 games last season for Kansas City and has 78.5 in his eight seasons in the league.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that the versatile Houston is expected to play mostly defensive end for Indianapolis.

"I have plenty left in the tank," Houston said after signing his contract with the Colts. "I think some people don't believe that, so it's more so what I am about to show the world than myself, because I know what I'm capable of."

Houston added that joining the Colts means he is joining a contender.

"I love the way they play, their attitude, their effort on the field. I think we can help each other. I just want to be another pass rusher within the scheme that can help cause some more headaches."
