Pacers Hold Media Day, Prepare For Training Camp

Last updated on Tuesday, September 25, 2018

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The NBA season is just around the corner as the Pacers held Media Day on Monday as they get ready to open up training camp.

Victor Oladipo said the team is not worried about expectations because they expect a lot from themselves.

"Everyone wants to improve from last season no matter what team you are on. If you don't want to improve then what are you doing?"

With LeBron James out of the East Nate McMillan was asked if that was something he needed to address with the team.

"I think everyone knows that," he said. "With James gone there feels like there is an opportunity for every team in the East to step up. It could be Boston, it could be Toronto, it could be us. There are 15 teams that want to be the 'top dog' in the conference."

The Pacers will begin training camp with their first preseason game a little over a week away on October 4 against the Houston Rockets.

Also during Media Day, Pacers President of Basketball Operations Kevin Pritchard announced the team plans on picking up team options on Domantas Sabonis and T.J. Leaf. Sabonis' final year of his rookie scale contract is worth $3.5 million while Leaf's third-year, $2.8 million option for the 2019-20 season is also being picked up.
