Purdue Reportedly Asks Engineers To Design NCAA-Approved Brace For Isaac Haas

Last updated on Tuesday, March 20, 2018

(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - The Purdue Boilermakers are doing everything they can to see if they can get Isaac Haas back on the court during the NCAA Tournament.

The Lafayette Journal & Courier reports the team is reaching out to their mechanical engineering department on campus to see if they can design an NCAA-approved brace that could possibly open the door for a Haas return to the court this season. Haas fractured his right elbow in Friday's opening game against Cal State Fullerton and head coach Matt Painter has stated he does not expect the 7-foor-2 center to be healthy enough to play regardless of if he wears a brace or not.

"He has the best brace you can possibly have on that they didn't approve," Painter said on Monday. "So if he has the best brace possible and he can't shoot a right-handed free throw, this brace isn't going to be better. It's just going to be one that's a little less bulky and it's going to get approved. He still has a broken elbow."

The Boilermakers face No. 3-seed Texas Tech in Friday's Sweet 16 matchup.
