Pacers Drop To Fifth In Conference Following Loss To Pelicans

Last updated on Thursday, March 22, 2018

(NEW ORLEANS, LA) - Anthony Davis put the New Orleans Pelicans on his back in another dominant performance as they topped the Indiana Pacers 96-92.

Davis scored a game-high 28 points and 13 rebounds and added five blocks. Davis' late putback of teammate Jrue Holiday's missed free throw attempt put the Pelicans up six with 15 seconds left in regulation.

"Davis wanted it more," Pacers head coach Nate McMillan said after the game. "We put our bigs in there and he beat us to the ball. He beat two guys to that ball. Those are plays you have to make down the stretch and he made the play."

Victor Oladipo led the Pacers with 21 points while Myles Turner added a 13 point and 10 rebound double-double.

The Pacers struggled offensively, shooting only 36 percent from the field, which was their second-worst shooting percentage of the season.

"We didn't play with any poise tonight," McMillan said. "I didn't recognize our group tonight. We normally play good basketball and are playing connected and that didn't happen."

The Pacers loss combined with wins by both Cleveland and Philadelphia dropped Indiana to fifth in the Eastern Conference.

The Blue & Gold return to Banker's Life Fieldhouse for their final Friday night home game of the season when they host the Los Angeles Clippers.
