Last updated on Friday, February 23, 2018

(CHAMPAIGN, IL) - Carsen Edwards went off for a career-high 40 points as the ninth-ranked Purdue Boilermakers defeated Illinois 93-86 to close out their regular season road slate.

Edwards went 11-for-19 from the field and hit four 3-pointers.

"If I played the way I did and we lost, it wouldn't be as special to me," Edwards said. "It was a close game all the way. I'm just glad we came through with the win."

Dakota Mathias knocked down four 3s of his own and finished with 18 points and eight rebounds.

The Boilermakers shot over 58 percent from the field and eleven 3-pointers.

Illinois kept the game tight as Leron Black led the Fighting Illini with 28 points and Trent Frazier added 20.

Purdue improved to 25-5 on the season and they wrap up the regular season on Sunday when they host Minnesota.
