Last updated on Thursday, February 22, 2018

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Colts will be bringing back kicker Adam Vinatieri for a 13th season as the team is closing in on a one-year contract with the 45-year old.

WTHR's Bob Kravitz broke the story and says the deal is expected to be finalized on Thursday.

Vinatieri is only 58 points shy of passing Morten Anderson for the top spot on the NFL's all-time scoring list.

Vinatieri will turn 46 in December, which will make his the fourth oldest player to play in the NFL (George Blanda, Morten Anderson, John Carney).

It'll be Vinatieri's 23rd NFL season as he spent the first 10 years as a member of the New England Patriots and the last 13 with the Colts.
