Hoosiers Start Fast But Eventually Fall To Illinois 73-71

Last updated on Thursday, January 25, 2018

(CHAMPAIGN, IL) - It was a tale of two halves as the Indiana Hoosiers lost a frustrating game to Illinois 73-71.

IU jumped out to a quick 14-6 lead to start the game but the Fighting Illini would put up 41 in the second-half to eke out a victory and their first Big Ten Conference win of the season.

Illinois freshman guard Trent Frazier and junior forward Leron Black each scored 19 points and the team made 72 percent of their free throws while Indiana only made 55 percent.

Juwan Morgan led Indiana with a game-high 28 points and nine rebounds which Zach McRoberts added 10 points and five boards.

The Hoosiers drop to 12-9 and have a huge task on Sunday when they host their in-state rivals, the No.3 ranked Purdue Boilermakers.
