Last updated on Friday, September 1, 2017

(BLOOMINGTON, IN) - The Indiana Hoosiers kept it close through almost three quarters before Ohio State turned up the heat and cruised to a 49-21 win in Thursday’s regular-season opener.

Indiana led 21-20 with 4:56 left in the third quarter before the Buckeyes would rattle off 28 unanswered points.

Richard Lagow chucked it 65 times in the game, completing 40 passes for 410 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Lagow's favorite target was Simmie Cobbs Jr. who had game-highs in receptions (11) for 149 yards and a touchdown.

On the ground, it wasn't even close. Ohio State out-rushed Indiana 292-17 with J.K Dobbins racking up 181 yards on 29 carries.

"The bottom line is that for 2.5 quarters, we went toe-to-toe with them," Hoosiers head coach Tom Allen said. "We were leading and weren't able to finish, that's on me."

The Hoosiers get back on the field September 9 when they visit Virginia.
