(BLOOMINGTON) - The area entrants in Friday’s IHSAA Boys State Track Finals bowed out in the preliminaries at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Facility at Indiana University.

Bedford North Lawrence senior Micah Wagner finished with a respectable 15th place in the 400 meter dash as he sprinted to a career-best 50.058, while North Central's Isaiah Ware won it in 47.91. Springs Valley's Isiah Pantiere enjoyed an outstanding first appearance at the state finals as the sophomore sped to a couple of impressive all-time bests in his specialties, the 200- and 100-meter dashes. Pantiere just missed making the finals in the 200, placing 11th with a time of 22.13. Evansville Harrison senior Noah McBride wound up winning the event with a 21.14 in the finals.

Pantiere broke the 11-second barrier in the 100, finishing 14th in 10.99. The finals went to McBride in 10.55.

Valley junior Garon Gadau landed a personal record of 21-3-3/4 to finish 20th in the long jump, which was won by Avon's Isaac Guerendo with a leap of 24-5-1/4, and senior Jacob Bates was 22nd in the shot put with a heave of 47-10. West Lafayette's George Karlaftas won with a toss of 59-5-1/2.
