Colts Select Malik Hooker Of Ohio State With 15th Pick

Last updated on Friday, April 28, 2017

(PHILADELPHIA, PA) - With the 15th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft the Indianapolis Colts upgraded their secondary by selecting Ohio State safety Malik Hooker.

The first-team All-American is a big time playmaker as he led the Big Ten Conference with seven interceptions and racked up 74 tackles to go along with 11 passes defended.

Chuck Pagano called Hooker "a ballhawk and a playmaker" and said both he and General Manager Chris Ballard couldn't believe he fell to them at No. 15. Hooker's slide was courtesy of eight of the fourteen picks ahead of Indianapolis being on the offensive side.

Hooker joins an overhauled Colts defense that has added Jabaal Sheard, Johnathan Hankins, John Simon, Sean Spence and Margus Hunt in the offseason.
