Tamika Catchings' Career Ends As Fever Fall In Playoffs

Last updated on Thursday, September 22, 2016

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Tamika Catchings career and the Indiana Fever’s championship aspirations came to an end in Wednesday’s 89-78 first-round loss to the Phoenix Mercury.

Catchings and Marissa Coleman each had a team-high 13 points while No. 24 added 10 rebounds and three steals in her final game.

"I knew it was coming but I didn't want it to end this way. It's disappointing," Catchings said as she fought back tears. "I feel like we've been through so much this year and we had the chance to prove ourselves one last time. I'm going to miss my teammates."

The game was not only Catchings' last with the Fever but head coach Stephanie White's as well as she is moving on to be the new coach at Vanderbilt.

"You saw how many former players came here tonight. It just goes to show that this organization is more like a family. That's how I view this. While I won't be here for the day-to-day stuff I plan on returning to visit. This is more of a 'see you soon' than a 'goodbye'."
