(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Colts rallied from an 18-point deficit and took a late lead but were unable to get crucial defensive stops and fell to the Detroit Lions 39-35.

The Lions jumped out to a 21-3 lead thanks in part to a 21-yard touchdown run by Theo Riddick.

The Colts got a touchdown late in the second quarter to head to halftime down 21-10.

Andrew Luck and company came out firing in the second half and after a missed extra point by Matt Prater, the table appeared to be set for the Colts to rally back and steal the game. The offense did their part, as Luck connected with Jack Doyle late in the fourth quarter, but the banged up secondary for the Colts was unable to hunker down and allowed the Lions to storm down the field with a little over 30 second left to allow Prater to redeem himself with a game-winning 43-yard field goal.

Both quarterbacks were outstanding as Luck finished with 31 completions, 385 yards and four touchdowns while Matthew Stafford countered with 31 completions for 340 yards and three touchdowns.

Chuck Pagano preached after the game that the team needs to get off to faster starts if they want to be quality opponents.
