(LAFAYETTE, IN) - Purdue’s junior forward Basil Smotherman will be suspended for the season opener against McNeese State for Violation of team rules.
Coach Matt Painter wasn't happy with Smotherman, saying "We hold our players to high standards and when they don't meet those standards, there will be consequences."
Smotherman will be eligible to play the 2015-2016 national champion Villanova on November 14.
Smotherman is also suspended for the teams exhibition games.
