Notre Dame/Michigan Matchup Returns In 2018/19

Last updated on Friday, July 8, 2016

(SOUTH BEND, IN) - The historic rivalry between Notre Dame and Michigan is set to return.

The winningest programs in college football history will reignite their legendary rivalry in 2018 and 2019.

The first game will take place in South Bend on September 1, 2018 while the rematch will be in Ann Arbor on October 26, 2019.

In light of the news, the University of Michigan has cancelled games against Arkansas in 2018 and 2019.

Notre Dame and Michigan haven't faced off since the 2014 season, when the Irish blanked the Wolverines 31-0.

Athletic director Jack Swarbrick released a statement saying, "Shortly after Warde Manuel was hired as Michigan's athletic director, he and I began working to make this renewal of the series possible. That we could get games on the schedule as soon as '18 and '19 required a lot of work by our staffs and some great cooperation by the Big Ten, ACC and other schools that were on our future schedules."
