(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Ed Carpenter Racing has tabbed JR Hildebrand as their fill-in for the No. 21 Chevy until Josef Newgarden returns from a broken collarbone.
"We plan to have him fill in until Josef is available," team owner Ed Carpenter said. "At this point we don't really know how much time he'll miss or how little, but I think it will be shorter than longer."
Newgarden was injured in Sunday's rain-soaked Firestone 600 after Conor Daly's car lost traction and slammed into his car and sent him into the wall. The race was suspended due to weather and will conclude on August 27.
