(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - Gabby Chaves posted the top speed in Thursday’s Indy 500 practice with a tow-assisted lap of 227.961 mph.
"It's only practice but it feels pretty good," the 2015 Sunoco Rookie of the Year said.
Townsend Bell took second with 227.593 mph while Carlos Munoz (227.589), Conor Daly (227.524) and Charlie Kimball (227.477) rounded out the top five.
One day of practice remains before two days of qualifications over the weekend. Honda drivers have topped the leaderboard in each practice session.
