Colts Recap NFL Draft

Last updated on Monday, May 2, 2016

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - As the NFL Draft sits in the rear-view mirror Colts GM Ryan Grigson and head coach Chuck Pagano were very pleased with how the team did over the three-day event.

"There were a lot of really good names up there early and we went after them," Grigson said. "Even late in the draft there were guys sitting up there. Our last pick, we had him in our top 30 so we feel really good heading into training camp that we are going to have great competition at a lot of positions."

Chuck Pagano added that new offensive-line coach Joe Philbin has been a big asset since his hiring and gave insight to them during the draft.

"He has all the experience of coaching and evaluating. We invested a lot in that part of the offense."

Meanwhile, Colts owner Jim Irsay met with the media following the NFL Draft and gave an update on the contract negotiations with Andrew Luck.

"Talks are progressing well. We have made progress and talks have indicated that we should be able to come to a deal. We still have ground to cover, it's a complicated contract and it needs to be fair for both sides. We've made real progress and I don't see any reason why before we get to training camp, we can't produce a new contract."
