Pagano, Grigson Receive Extensions Through 2019

Last updated on Tuesday, January 5, 2016

(Indianapolis, IN) - After all the talk and speculation that Chuck Pagano may be out as Colts head coach, the team signed him to a four year contract extension.

The team also announced they retained General Manager Ryan Grigson, who had one year left on his deal, and received a three year extension which means both he and Pagano are under contract through 2019.

The trio of Jim Irsay, Grigson and Pagano held a press conference to announce the new deals, with Pagano saying "I've had a lot of great days but none better than this one. This is the best day of my life."

According to Irsay, Pagano said he wanted to be "tied at the hip" with Grigson and wanted them to reach their ultimate goal together.

"I'm convinced we have the right stuff to win a world championship. These are our guys. This is our team."

"This year was tough, 8-8 and falling short of the playoffs is difficult. But to be there with the injuries at quarterback, I'm proud of the organization, I'm convinced we have the right people," Irsay continued.

Chuck Pagano has a 41-23 record in four seasons with the Colts, which is the fifth-highest winning percentage among active coaches with at least two full seasons.

Irsay also dismissed reports of any tension between the head coach and GM as well as reports of Grigson overruling Pagano on disciplinary issues and ordering who to play and not to play.

"If you think I'm going to let someone bully my head coach then you don't know me, you don't know this organization. Ryan isn't that type of guy but if you think I'm going to have that in organization, that's not going to happen."
