Dallas Clark Announces Retirement

Last updated on Thursday, June 19, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - One of the most popular players in Colts history retired wearing the horseshoe on Wednesday.

Dallas Clark retired from professional football after signing a one-day contract with the Indianapolis Colts. That made it possible for him to make his exit as a member of the team that drafted him in 2003.

Colts owner Jim Irsay noted that there was no signing bonus this time. But Irsay said "there's a lot more meaning behind it than numbers."

Clark gave the credit for his successes to Irsay, telling the owner his life was changed "when you guys took me."

Clark played nine seasons for the Colts. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2009.

Clark is the franchise leader in receptions (427) and touchdowns (46) for a tight end.
